The splicing price includes an allowance for the cost extra rope used in forming the splice and the cost of a thimble. Unless otherwise instructed we will normally use a stainless thimble on ropes up to 12mm diameter and a galvanised thimble above that.
Splicing rope for main halliards can be problematic if your sheave box is small - sometimes the additional thickness of the splice which can extend up to 250mm will not pass over the sheave. There is normally no problem with jib halliards.
Our splicing service is only available on new ropes at the time of their supply by us - sorry, we don't splice used rope or rope supplied by others.
